V3.9.0 WENT LIVE! .@THORChain devs have been cooking again: 22 merge requests in this release alone. Oh, and did we mention? A new chain integration quietly flew under the radar. 👀
ON THE APP LAYER !4120 - Repo CODEOWNERS Lets app-layer developers approve their own code changes. This reduces effort for maintainers and improves workflow efficiency. It has no impact on protocol logic and no effect on security. !4135 Make wasm permissions a list of deployers Replaces the old system that required each app to go through a slow approval process. Now, trusted developers can deploy directly by adding their address to a list of approved deployers. This keeps development agile while maintaining strong security as only vetted addresses can publish code. Also the app-layer contracts remain isolated from THORChain’s core logic. The change speeds up the iteration process without increasing risk. !4126 Fix wrong redemption rate in Nami Index Nav This fix corrects a bug in the Nami Index smart contract that caused incorrect redemption rates. The fix was tested and re-audited by Halborn, and confirmed to work.
A NEW CHAIN !4064 - Add Noble This update integrates the @noble_xyz blockchain into THORChain, adding native support for NOBLE.USDC. Noble is the only USDC issuer authorised by Circle on Cosmos, bringing secure, fiat-backed stablecoin liquidity into THORChain without relying on bridges or synthetic assets. It improves communication between THORChain and other IBC chains while expanding composability across the Cosmos ecosystem. For the App Layer, this unlocks new use cases. Rujira dApps can use Noble USDC as a stable medium of exchange, and cross-chain DeFi services (such as lending, and payments) can integrate it without external trust assumptions. We’ll publish a dedicated article soon to explore the importance of Noble soon.
OR THE ADVANCED CHADS Some important fixes, corrections, and Uupdates across the different chains integrated: !4132 ensures that EDDSA-based vaults (Solana) are included in the churn process (Node rotation). !4134 updates the block time to 0.75s for Binance Smart Chain, ensuring THORChain stays in sync with the chain’s actual pace. !4137 implements “instant observe” for XRP to prevent rare cases where transactions could be poorly executed due to mempool issues during broadcast. Many small adjustments to improve efficiency: !4125 fixes a memory leak that caused THORNode’s memory usage to spike over time, improving node performance and stability. !3978 ensures that vaults no longer secured by node bonds aren’t mistakenly treated as bonded, preventing false slashing. !3809 updates internal data storage to use a more flexible system in the Cosmos SDK (migration to KVStoreService). !3621, !3408, !4145, and !2847 include multiple improvements around fee management, event notifications, deposit handling, and retired vault.
