GameSquare Drops $5M on CryptoPunk NFT To Supercharge ETH Treasury
GameSquare (GAME), one of North America’s largest gaming media networks, has expanded its ETH treasury strategy by acquiring a CryptoPunk NFT from Compound (COMP) founder Robert Leshner in a $5.15 million deal.
Leshner received payment in the form of GameSquare’s preferred stock, a type of share that typically gives holders priority over common shareholders for dividends and liquidation payouts.
Leshner will assist the company in advancing its treasury program and NFT pivot.
These moves are part of GameSquare’s crypto-native treasury program, aiming to grow ETH holdings through acquisitions, staking, and leveraging NFTs for marketing and value creation.
